Hi folks! I’m Emily.

emily & james enjoy delicacies in cartagena, colombia
I work at washingtonpost.com and on the weekends volunteer at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. I married my high school sweetheart, James. We live in Arlington, Va. right across the bridge from Georgetown.
I’m trying to learn how to the play the mandolin and speak Spanish. Both are at very beginning stages but plenty of fun.
I started food blogging after reading washingtonpost.com’s food blog, A Mighty Appetite’s Valentines Day post. But you can also read my own interpretation of why I love to cook. .
I genuinely enjoy baking, fruit, wine, traveling, art history, museums and learning. I’d like to create more cooking videos, if only I had the time! What’s an idealistic long term goal for this blog? Open up a quaint cafe back in North Carolina that serves fabulous coffee, teas and baked goods which also provides a space for people to meet, talk and laugh. But let’s just reiterate the “idealistic” part of that goal. For now, I’m loving learning about and exploring all things food.
Feel free to email me (emily.kotecki@gmail.com) with any questions, suggestions or feedback.
When you open up your cafe in NC, I’ll work for you!!!!!
That would be a dream come true!
Emily!!!
Before you move to N.C. to open up your dream cafe…could you give me a crash course on all things food? You are a pro!
